THE team at Balloon Safaris have literally been floating on air since being named the best adventure tourism company in the state at the 2005 NSW Tourism Awards.
Offering daily flights over the picturesque Hunter Valley, Balloon Safaris guarantees each flight is an unforgettable experience. Flights begin at sunrise and as dawn breaks you find yourself drifting over an amazing patchwork of vineyards, pasture land and national forest. In a short time fun-seekers are hundreds of metres up in the air, looking down over the breathtaking Brokenback Ranges and across to Barrington Tops, pilot Daren Pallett said. The safari culminates in a champagne celebration and gift package for all passengers. Some of the questions most frequently asked of Balloon Safaris and their answers are as follows:What should I wear? Clothing suitable for walking is recommended: covered shoes, long trousers and a long-sleeved top. Natural fibres are better. Tall people may wish to wear a hat.Where do we meet? We meet at Cessnock airport, behind the Wine Country Visitor Information Centre. How high do we go? This all depends upon the winds. Flights can be anywhere between the tops of the trees and several thousand metres. How long does it take? The flight is between 45 minutes and one hour. The total time taken is between three and four hours. This includes filling in some paperwork, travelling to and from the launch and landing sites and the champagne after.
